Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer your time and talent and inspire the next generation of leaders through one of our programs!

Girls on the Run

  • Serves girls in grades 3 - 5
  • Girls on the Run is a 10-12 week after school program that uses the power of running to help prepare girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living. It's a place where participants learn how to celebrate being girls by building self-esteem and improving emotional and physical health.
  • Each session is led by trained coaches who guide and mentor girls though a fun and uplifting curriculum. Along the way, the girls train together to walk or run a 5K.
  • We are looking for both male and female coaches!
  • Head coaches are required to be at their site twice a week and assistant coaches are required to be at their sites at least once a week.  The sessions run after school until 5 p.m.
  • Volunteers are required to complete an orientation/training session.  Volunteers must pass a background check.

We are currently accepting coach applications for Fall 2019.

For additional information or questions regarding coaching, contact Molly Hoosline or call (507) 345-4629.

Office Support

It's that time of year again! YWCA Mankato New American Families requests some help with spring cleaning. We need help with the following tasks:

Take inventory and organize program supplies, filing program documents and curriculum, and running donation items to local thrift stores.

Volunteers are requested to arrive at Monday through Friday from 10:30am - 12:30pm or 2:30pm to 4:00pm. Volunteers can even create their own schedule, but should communicate this to Marielynn Herrera at marielynn@ywcamankato.org. This opportunity will begin from March 25th until task is completed.

Are you handy around the office? We occasionally need volunteers for general office help, such as cutting, filing and basic research. Our office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30AM - 5:00PM.

If you are interested in volunteering for general office support, please contact Deena Schuster at deena@ywcamankato.org.
