Nominations NOW Open for the 2014 Women of Distinction, Young Woman of Distinction & Distinctive Difference Awards
The objective of the YWCA Women of Distinction and Young Woman of Distinction Awards is to honor and recognize women from the Greater Mankato Area whose achievements over a sustained period of time have made a significant contribution to community life and embody the mission of the YWCA. The achievements may be through employment and/or volunteer service. Nomination forms are available here.
The YWCA will also be presenting the Distinctive Difference Award to honor and recognize a business or organization from the Greater Mankato Area whose achievements, over a sustained period of time, have made a significant contribution to advancing women and/or people of color into upper management and leadership positions. The achievements may be through the public or private sector and through employment or group/ volunteer service. Nomination forms are available here.
All nominations are due Friday, January 3, 2014 at Noon.
The 2014 Women of Distinction Event will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at the Verizon Wireless Center in downtown Mankato. Each year the YWCA recognizes three Women of Distinction, one Young Woman of Distiction and one business or organization with the Distinctive Difference Award.
The YWCA has honored 125 women and 2 businesses for their leadership, significant impact on the community and their dedication to YWCA’s mission of eliminating racism, empowering women while promoting peace, justice, freedom and ensuring dignity for all. Each of the women nominated have made a large impact on the community. Their efforts have helped women to live independently, combat ignorance, actively try to end gender violence and provide community assistance.
