Walking in Two Worlds has new logo

Walking in Two Worlds logoThe YWCA’s Walking in Two Worlds program now has a logo

thanks to South Central College instructor Kevin McLaughlin and his graphic design students.

The whole class participated in the project, treating it as a “real world” experience where they develop design options for a client. While all of their logos were well done, only one

                                       logo could be selected.

That logo was created by Dan Burtyk of Mankato. Burtyk said, “The two bands going around the earth represent the two different paths or “worlds” in the single world we all live in.”

“The students did a wonderful job and offered a number of design options,” said Edell Fiedler, Walking in Two Worlds Director. “It was hard to narrow, but in the end we’ve found something that speaks well to the program.”

Carol Ortman Perkins Lectureship Series Presents: Susan Faludi

"Why Haven't Women Remade the World Yet?"

Minnesota State University- Mankato, CSU Ballroom

With her seminal book Backlash, Susan Faludi charted a new course for Feminism in America. Over her career, this Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist has chronicled, with astonishing clarity and prescience, the ever-shifting roles of men and women in society, and, in the process, has become one of the country's most provocative voices on women's rights and gender equality.

Susan Faludi's Backlash: The Undeclared War Against American Women, was a monumental investigation into the backlash against feminism in the 1980s and the assault against career-minded women. It immediately established her in the tradition of towering feminist authors: she stood with Gloria Steinem on the cover of Time, and Newsweek called the book "as groundbreaking as Simone de Beauvoir's The Second Sex and Betty Friedan's The Feminine Mystique." In her latest release, The Terror Dream, Faludi explores why our media and our politicians responded to the terrorist attacks of 9/11 by calling for a return to a society where men are men and women are victims.

Faludi is a winner of The Pulitzer Prize and The National Book Critics Circle Award. She has written for The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times, among others, and is also the author of Stiffed: The Betrayal of the American Man.

This event is free and open to the public!
